Removal & Installation: Compressor: Removal

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Discharge A/C system, using approved refrigerant recovery/recycling equipment. Note amount of oil removed when system is discharged.
  2. Rotate belt tensioner clockwise and remove compressor drive belt. Disconnect A/C compressor clutch connector. Disconnect high side (discharge) and low side (suction) hoses. Plug hoses to prevent contamination. Remove compressor bolts and compressor. Keep compressor level to avoid spilling refrigerant oil.
  3. Drain all oil from compressor into a clean container. Drain oil from high side port and then low side port. Measure amount of oil removed. Replace with same amount of new refrigerant oil upon installation.
