Refrigerant System
System uses a variable displacement compressor to control system pressure. Compressor displacement varies according to refrigerant system heat loads. Thermal Expansion Valve (TXV) at evaporator inlet meters refrigerant into evaporator. If high-side pressure reaches about 530 psi (37.3 kg/cm2 ), pressure relief valve on front head of compressor opens, venting refrigerant to atmosphere. When pressure decreases to about 425 psi (30.0 kg/cm2 ), pressure relief valve closes. Valve must be replaced if it ever opens.
