Circuit Description

Passlock(R) system allows PCM to disable fuel injectors unless a correct key code from the Passlock(R) sensor in ignition key is correct. When engine is cranked, BCM will look for a password from the sensor. If password is not received within a certain amount of time or is incorrect, it will send a disable fuel command to the PCM over the Class II link. SECURITY indicator light will flash and engine will not be allowed to start. If BCM receives the correct password from the sensor that is stored in memory, it will send it over the Class II link to the PCM. If PCM Passlock(R) code it has stored in memory does not match the BCM password or PCM does not receive a password from BCM, it will allow engine to start then stall within 4 seconds.

The SECURITY indicator light will flash for 10 minutes if PCM receives no password, an incorrect password or disable fuel command. If password to PCM is correct, engine will operate normally. Password is sent continuously by BCM to PCM during run mode. If password is lost or incorrect during the drive cycle, engine will be allowed to start on succeeding ignition cycles without the aid of Passlock(R) and the SECURITY indicator light will stay on all the time. This mode is called fail enable mode.
