Circuit Description
EGR valve is equipped with an internal position sensor to determine pintle valve position. PCM controls the EGR solenoid by supplying ignition voltage whenever exhaust gas needs to be recirculated into intake manifold. PCM monitors EGR solenoid and position sensor circuits for correct voltage levels at certain times. DTC will set when EGR solenoid is commanded off and feedback voltage at PCM is high.
DTC will set if EGR solenoid voltage is greater than 3.5 volts when EGR solenoid is commanded off. Diagnostic runs continuously with ignition on and EGR solenoid commanded off. EGR solenoid resistance should be 7-11 ohms.
