Steering Column: Installation

NOTE: Install steering column plastic locator behind upper column mounting nut. This is important because locator centers steering column in front of driver during accident.

Install upper and lower steering column mounting bolts, and upper steering column mounting nut along with locator. Lubricate threads of intermediate shaft-to-steering shaft pinch bolt with Loctite® 242 Threadlocker, or equivalent, and install bolt. To complete installation, reverse remainder of removal procedure. Tighten all fasteners to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS .
