Circuit Description
Camshaft Position (CMP) sensor is a magnetic generator type sensor. CMP sensor produces an alternating current signal which increases in both frequency and amplitude as engine RPM increases. CMP sensor signal is used by PCM to determine optimum ignition timing, fuel delivery and misfire diagnosis. DTC will set when there is no change in "cam signal in" input for more than 15 crankshaft revolutions when the following conditions have been met:
- MAP is greater than 30 kPa.
- Engine is running.
Cam signal is continuously checked when crankshaft sensor pulses are received by PCM, except under low MAP conditions.
