"S" Body (Prizm)

  1. Disconnect shift lock control module 5-pin connector. Turn ignition switch to ON position. Measure voltage between shift lock control module connector terminal No. 5 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, repair open in IGNITION circuit between shift control module connector terminal No. 5 and ECU-IG fuse (10-amp) located in junction block No. 2 on left side of instrument panel behind storage box cover, then go to step  5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  2. Measure voltage between shift lock control module connector terminal No. 1 and ground. See Figure. If voltage is 10-14 volts, go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, repair open in IGNITION circuit between shift control module connector terminal No. 1 and CIG fuse (15-amp) located in junction block No. 2 on left side of instrument panel behind storage box cover, then go to step  5. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  3. Measure resistance between shift lock control module connector terminal No. 3 and ground. See Figure. If resistance is less than 2 ohms, go to next step. If resistance is 2 ohms or more, repair open in GROUND circuit between shift lock control module connector terminal No. 3 and terminal No. 20 of Gray connector C2 located in junction block No. 3 behind center of instrument panel, then go to step  5. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  4. Measure voltage between shift lock control module connector terminal No. 2 and ground while applying brake pedal. See Figure. If voltage is 10-14 volts, replace shift control module, then go to next step. If voltage is not 10-14 volts, repair open in BRAKE SIGNAL circuit between shift control module connector terminal No. 2 and terminal No. 21 of Gray connector C2 located in junction block No. 3 behind center of instrument panel, then go to next step. See Figure. See WIRING DIAGRAMS .
  5. Ensure all components disconnected or removed during testing are reconnected and installed on vehicle. Ensure BTSI system operates correctly. See SHIFT INTERLOCK SOLENOID  under DESCRIPTION & OPERATION. If system does not operate correctly, repeat step  1.
