Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor: Installation

  1. Tap out sensor mounting hole in engine to remove any thread sealant residue. Clean any thread sealant from sensor threads. Coat sensor threads with Thread Sealant (Saturn Part No. 21485277, Loctite 242 Threadlocker or equivalent).
  2. Install engine coolant temperature sensor. Tighten sensor to 71 INCH lbs. (8 N.m).
  3. Connect electrical connector to the engine coolant temperature sensor. Push in until a click is heard, and pull back to confirm a positive engagement.
  4. Fill and bleed air from cooling system. See ON-VEHICLE SERVICE  .
