Description & Operation: Notes

WARNING: To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all SERVICE PRECAUTIONS and DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM procedures in AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article.

Cruise control system is completely electronic, and does not require vacuum or a vacuum servo motor. To control throttle movement, a cable from cruise control module pulls on the accelerator linkage at the accelerator pedal.

Cruise control system consists of a cruise control module (located above accelerator pedal), control switches (located in center of steering wheel), brake release switch, and Powertrain Control Module (PCM). See Fig 1 .

NOTE: On M/T models, PCM interprets vehicle speed to calculate when clutch has been depressed. Separate clutch release switch has been eliminated.
