Diagnostic Aids
Each ESB is an internal component of ABS motor pack. It cannot be serviced separately. If ESB is defective, motor pack must be replaced.
WARNING:
When replacing motor pack, DO NOT place hands near motor pack modulator gears. Gears may have enough preload tension to cause personal injury.
Connect scan tool. Perform ABS motor tension release special test before removing motor pack. ABS will initialize when vehicle is driven at least 8 MPH.
NOTE:
System initialization alternates between left front/rear and right front/rear with each ignition cycle.
When diagnosing intermittent problems, select MALF HISTORY from scan tool ABS menu. Supplemental data can be used to duplicate problem.
