Wiper Motor/Module: Removal

  1. Remove wiper arm finish cap and fastener. Lift wiper blade away from windshield and remove arm from pivot. Remove cowl trim fasteners at windshield edge of panel. Open hood. Remove remaining cowl fasteners, then remove cowl trim panel.
  2. Disconnect windshield washer hose (if equipped). Remove instrument panel top cover screw caps and screws. Lift top panel at rear edge to disengage clips and slide panel out of clips at windshield. Remove screws and unsnap windshield defroster nozzle from mode valve assembly.
  3. Remove defroster nozzle by rotating front of nozzle up and away from windshield. This will expose wiper module fasteners. Remove module fasteners. Partially remove module/motor and disconnect wiring. Remove module/motor. Remove crank arm nut and disconnect crank arm from motor shaft. Remove motor screws. Separate motor from module.
NOTE: To install a new module with studs already attached, the 9-mm holes in center cowl must be enlarged to 15 mm. If a new wiper motor is installed, remove wiper motor crank arm from new motor and discard.
