Diagnostic Procedure

  1. Determine if DTCs P0702, P0746, P0747 or P0749 are present. These flags must be eliminated first as a possible cause for DTC P0748.
  2. Check actuator operation. See ACTUATOR QUICK CHECK  under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM  . Operation sound of all actuators should be similar.
  3. Perform hydraulic pressure tests. See HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TESTS in OVERHAUL article. If line pressure does not change or only changes slightly, regulator valve is stuck or line actuator is faulty. If necessary, see HYDRAULIC PRESSURE TESTS in AUTO TRANS OVERHAUL - SATURN TRANSAXLE article.
