Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Remove DERM. See DIAGNOSTIC ENERGY RESERVE MODULE (DERM)  . Remove DERM bracket nuts. See Fig 1 .
  2. Remove DERM bracket from studs, and then pull straight up. Remove CPA clip from resistor module. Disconnect resistor module connector. Squeeze clips inside DERM bracket to release clips. Remove resistor module.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Activate SIR system. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
