Removal & Installation

  1. Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS  . Disable SIR system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  . Note position and routing of discriminating sensor wiring for installation reference. See Fig 1 . Remove sensor bolts and sensor from upper radiator support. Remove CPA clip from sensor connector, and disconnect connector.
  2. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten sensor bolts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  table at the end of this article. Activate SIR system. Perform system operation check to ensure system is functioning properly. See TESTING - SYSTEM OPERATION CHECK  .
