Passenger Compartment Discriminating Sensor: Removal

Before proceeding, follow air bag service precautions. See SERVICE PRECAUTIONS. Disable air bag system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM.
On Cavalier, passenger compartment discriminating sensor is located behind right side of instrument panel. Remove defroster grill, both instrument panel end caps, and instrument panel topper pad. Unbolt sensor and remove from vehicle. See Fig 1 .

On Sunfire, passenger compartment discriminating sensor is located behind right side of instrument panel. Remove both instrument panel end caps and glove box trim strip. Remove accessory trim plate (radio/hvac controls) and instrument panel topper pad. Unbolt sensor and remove from vehicle. See Fig 1 .
