NOTE: This update supercedes Diagnostic Tools Notice Version 44.50, dated July 24, 1998.

SSS VERSION 44.50

  1. All current and approved calibration packages (End Model) for model year 1999. This includes the P0327 diagnostic enhancement calibration packages.
  2. Modified the screen after the SSS reprograms a 1996-1999 controller to state that the user MUST press F3 to continue. The vehicle is not completely programmed until a message is displayed stating that programming was successful.

ADDITIONS TO VERSION 44.00 RELEASE NOTES

  1. Tech 2 reporting of history DTCs for 92-95 SIR systems (DERM & SDM) is incorrect. Use the PDT or SSS for 92-95 SIR system diagnosis. Version 45.00 will correct 92-95 SIR diagnostics with the Tech 2.
  2. 96 Saturn ABS system diagnostics for the Tech 2 are not available. Selecting 96 Saturn chassis (ABS) results in a possible wrong vehicle selected message. Use the PDT & SSS for 96 ABS system diagnosis. Version 45.00 will provide 96 chassis (ABS) diagnostics with the Tech 2.
  3. When performing a fuel gauge test with the PDT or the Tech 2, please be aware that commanding the fuel gauge to empty (E) will not cause the Low Fuel Lamp to turn on. The fuel gauge test is designed only to test PCM control of the fuel gauge needle position.
  4. 96-99 Transmission Adapts Data Display on the Tech 2 shows incorrect values for the following parameters:
    • Oil Life Remaining
    • 1st through 4th Clutch and TCC Slip Monitor
    • 2nd through 4th Clutch Fill-Low and High
    • Norm. Up Pres-all High Values
    • Down Pres-all High Values
  5. Engine Miles displayed in the Tech 2 96-99 Vehicle System Info Data Display shows miles value with (km) units.
  6. Cruise Set Speed displayed in the Tech 2 96-99 Cruise Control Data Display shows miles value regardless of units selected.
  7. Brake Switch displayed in the Tech 2 91-95 Input/Output status Data Display shows Off always with M/T Saturn vehicles. This brake switch status, as seen by the PCM/TC, will not be active in a M/T equipped vehicle.
