Flag 48: Reference Input Intermittent Or Noisy

Flag will set if PCM detects missing or extra reference pulses or if time between reference pulses is too long or to short. Using Malfunction History mode on scan tester may help determine cause for setting of flag. Check for large RPM increase on start-up. Check for possible induced reference signal due to proximity of reference wire of harness to high electrical output wiring.
