Throttle Body (TBI): Removal

  1. Relieve fuel pressure. See FUEL PRESSURE RELIEF . Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove air cleaner and related ducting.
  2. Remove electrical connectors from Idle Air Control (IAC) valve, TP sensor and fuel injector(s). Remove wiring harness from throttle body. Disconnect throttle cable from throttle body lever. Label and remove vacuum hoses.
  3. Remove fuel inlet and return lines. Use back-up wrenches to prevent nuts in throttle body from coming loose. Remove fuel line "O" rings and discard. Remove throttle body retaining bolts. Remove TBI unit and base gasket. Discard base gasket.
CAUTION: Pressure regulator spring is under heavy tension and can cause injury if released.
