Retrieving Codes & Information Flags

  1. Fault codes can be retrieved using scan tester or SERVICE ENGINE SOON light. Fault codes related to EVO system are PCM engine Code 24 and PCM transaxle Code 41 (VSS circuit - no signal). Information flag related to EVO system is Flag No. 16 (EVO actuator circuit fault). Information Flag No. 16 can only be retrieved with scan tester.
  2. To flash codes using SERVICE ENGINE SOON light, connect a jumper wire between terminals "A" and "B" of Data Link Connector (DLC), located below instrument panel. See Figure . Turn ignition on but DO NOT  start engine. SERVICE ENGINE SOON light should flash Code 12 three times. If Code 12 is not flashed, self-diagnostic system is inoperative. Repair system before continuing procedure.
  3. After Code 12 is flashed 3 times, if any fault codes are present, each code will be flashed 3 times before going to the next code. Codes are flashed in ascending order, lowest to highest.
  4. When Code 12 is flashed again, this indicates that all codes have been displayed. Turn ignition off and disconnect jumper wire to exit diagnostics.
