Wipers Do Not Operate In Any Mode Test

  1. Disconnect wiper module connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between cavity "B" and ground. If test light is on, go to next step. If light is off, check for open or short in ground circuit No. 153R (Black wire.)
  2. Disconnect column switch connector. Turn ignition on. Connect test light between cavity "A" and ground. If test light is on, go to next step. If light is off, check for open or short in ground circuit No. 153F (Black wire).
  3. Check for battery voltage between underhood junction block connector cavity "C" and ignition switch connector cavity "A". If voltage is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present, repair open or short in circuit No. 1932 (Red/White wire).
  4. Check for battery voltage between instrument panel junction block connector cavity C8 and ignition switch connector cavity "B". Voltage should be present with ignition switch in ACC and RUN positions. If voltage is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present, repair open or short in circuit No. 4 (Brown wire).
  5. Check for battery voltage between instrument panel junction block connector cavity "A7" and wiper module connector cavity "E". Voltage should be present with ignition switch in ACC and RUN positions. If voltage is present, go to next step. If no voltage is present, repair open or short in circuit No. 93 (White wire).
  6. Check ignition switch terminals and connections for proper mating. Perform wiper switch resistance checks. See WIPER/WASHER SWITCH RESISTANCE  table. If resistance checks are okay, check for opens at pins "A", "B" and "C" on column switch connector and repair as needed. If wiper switch checks are okay, go to next step. If wiper switch does not check okay, install new wiper switch and verify that wipers operate.
  7. Check circuits, connections and terminals connected to wiper module. Repair as needed. If system still does not operate, replace wiper module/motor assembly. Verify that system operates with new components.
