Code 35 - No Turbine Speed Input: Description

When turbine shaft speed is greater than 250 RPM, Turbine Speed Sensor (TSS) produces 8 electrical pulses per turbine shaft revolution. PCM detects turbine speed by counting pulses from turbine speed sensor. PCM sets code 35 if TSS input is zero and engine speed is greater than 3472 RPM. PCM also sets code 35 if TSS input is zero, engine speed is greater than 980 RPM and vehicle speed is greater than 6 MPH.

NOTE: Test numbers refer to numbers on diagnostic chart.
  1. This step checks if code is still present.
  2. This step checks if a wiring or sensor problem is present. If not, PCM may be faulty.
  3. This step checks for a bad sensor.
  4. This step checks each circuit for short or ground condition.
