CAUTION: When battery is disconnected, vehicle computer and memory systems may lose memory data. Driveability problems may exist until computer systems have completed a relearn cycle. See COMPUTER RELEARN PROCEDURES article in GENERAL INFORMATION before disconnecting battery.

The power mirror system provides the ability to electrically position the passenger side mirror. A 4-position switch, located in the console, has a 4-way momentary actuation with a return to a central OFF position. The outside mirror has an up/down motor and a left/right motor.

The power mirror switch has voltage applied at the up, down, left, and right contacts at all times.

When the operator moves the switch to the up position, current flows through one closed set of UP contacts in the mirror switch, the up/down motor, and a second closed set of UP contacts in the mirror switch to ground. The motor tilts the mirror upward until the switch is released or until the mirror reaches its full up position.

When the operator moves the switch to the down position, 2 sets of DOWN contacts in the switch direct the current through the up/down motor in the opposite direction. The motor tilts the mirror downward until the switch is released or until the mirror reaches its full down position.

When the operator moves the switch to the left position, current flows through the one closed set of LEFT contacts in the mirror switch, the Left/Right motor, and a second closed set of LEFT contacts in the mirror switch to ground. The motor tilts the mirror to the left until the switch is released or until the mirror reaches its full left position.

When the operator moves the switch to the right position, 2 sets of RIGHT contacts in the switch direct the current through the Left/Right motor in the opposite direction. The motor tilts the mirror to the right until the switch is released or until the mirror reaches its full right position.

The switch is designed to prevent any attempt to move the mirror in 2 directions simultaneously.
