UNEVEN AIR TEMP. BETWEEN LEFT - AND RIGHT HEATER OUTLET DUCTS

CONDITION

Some owners may notice a difference in air temperature between the air coming out of the left and right heater duct outlets.

CAUSE

Cold and warm air moving through the HVAC module is not mixing completely.

CORRECTIVE ACTION

Install a new heater core cover P/N 52454598 that has molded-in baffles according to the following procedure. This will mix the warm and cold air in the heater duct before it exits the outlets.

SERVICE PROCEDURES

REMOVAL

  1. Remove left and right lower trim panel extensions by disconnecting lower Velcro. fasteners and pulling out at upper clip locations. (See Fig 1 ) (See Fig 2 for steps 2-3)
  2. Remove screws on lower heater duct.
  3. Drop heater duct straight down and carefully slide out sideways.
    NOTE: Take care not to damage heater duct-to-rear floor heater duct seal.
    NOTE: See Fig 3 for steps 4-5
  4. Release temperature cable hold down clip from lower heater core cover by carefully lifting up on plastic tab, while pushing down on top of cable.
  5. Squeeze temperature valve pin and pull temperature cable straight off.
  6. Remove screws and heater core side cover. (See Fig 4 )
  7. Remove screws and lower heater core cover. (See Fig 5 )

INSTALLATION

NOTE: New heater core cover has molded-in baffles to mix air in heater duct. Make sure the heater core cover to be installed has these baffles.
  1. Install new lower heater core cover and screws. (See Fig 6 )
  2. Install heater core side cover and screws. (See Fig 7 )
  3. Push temperature cable over temperature valve pin and snap temperature cable hold down clip over temperature cable holder. (See Fig 8 )
  4. Install heater duct by carefully sliding in sideways and up into position.
    NOTE: Take care not to damage rear floor heater duct seal.
  5. Install screws on lower heater duct. (See Fig 9 )
  6. Install left and right lower trim panel extensions. (See Fig 10 )
