Parking Brake
WARNING:
Ensure vehicle is properly positioned on hoist. If any components are to be removed, provide additional support to end of vehicle opposite that from which components are to be removed.
- Remove center console. Raise and support vehicle. Pull parking brake lever to second detent position. Tighten adjuster nut at base of lever until rear wheels drag slightly. Apply and release parking brake several times.
- Pull lever to first detent position. There should be no drag at rear wheels. Pull lever to second detent position. Rear wheels should drag slightly. Pull lever to fourth detent position. Rear wheels should not turn by hand. If okay, go to step 5).
- If correct adjustment cannot be obtained without backing off adjuster nut to a point where self-locking nut is past end of threaded rod, go to next step.
- Measure length of threaded rod from center of pivot pin to end of rod (distance "A"). See Fig 1 . If distance "A" is 5.78" (147 mm) or less, replace parking brake lever assembly. If distance "A" is 6.22" (158 mm) or greater, inspect for damage or incorrect installation of parking brake components.
- Readjust as necessary. Lower vehicle. Install center console.
