To remove
- Reduce the fuel pressure by removing fuse 2 when the engine is running (fuse 2 is in the electrical box in front of the battery). When the engine has stopped, turn the ignition key to LOCK and refit the fuse.

- Drain the fuel tank. See Emptying The Fuel Tank or Emptying The Fuel Tank, 4WD .
- Raise the car.
- Remove the exhaust system, refer to COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM

- Unplug the connector on the fuel tank and remove this from its bracket.

- Place a receptacle under the tank.

- Detach the fuel tank's fuel lines (B284 has no return line). Plug the lines with suitable plugs.
- Remove the hose clip and bend aside the filler pipe hose.

- Place a column jack under the tank, remove the tank straps and fuel tank. Be careful when removing the tank; ensure that no components or connections are damaged.
