To remove

Reduce the fuel pressure by removing fuse 2 when the engine is running (fuse 2 is in the electrical box in front of the battery). When the engine has stopped, turn the ignition key to LOCK and refit the fuse.

Drain the fuel tank. See Emptying The Fuel Tank or Emptying The Fuel Tank, 4WD .
Raise the car.
Remove the exhaust system, refer to COMPLETE EXHAUST SYSTEM .
Unplug the connector on the fuel tank and remove this from its bracket.

Place a receptacle under the tank.

Detach the fuel tank's fuel lines (B284 has no return line). Plug the lines with suitable plugs.
Remove the hose clip and bend aside the filler pipe hose.

Place a column jack under the tank, remove the tank straps and fuel tank. Be careful when removing the tank; ensure that no components or connections are damaged.
