ECM Replacement
The following procedures are required if the Engine Control Module (ECM) must be replaced.
- ECM reprogramming, see SERVICE PROGRAMMING SYSTEM (SPS) .
- Theft protection, see Electronic Immobilizer Component Programming. ECM immediately learns the incoming password for continued fuel supply upon receipt of a password message. Once the password message has been received and a password has been learned, a programming (learning) procedure must be performed to change the password. An ECM that was previously installed in another car learned that car's password for continued fuel supply and will require a programming (learning) procedure after programming to learn the new car's password.
- Throttle programming procedure, see THROTTLE/IDLE PROGRAMMING .
- Engine oil's remaining service life - If available, use a scan tool to reset the engine oil's remaining service life to the original percentage that was registered before the unit was replaced.
- Transmission fluid's remaining service life - If available, use a scan tool to reset the transmission fluid's remaining service life to the original percentage that was registered before the unit was replaced.
- Crankshaft variation programming, see Crankshaft Position Sensor System, Variation, Programming.
- Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Programming, see Clutch Pedal Position Sensor Programming.
