Longitudinal link: Assembly
- Fit the bush in the longitudinal link and the ball joints in the longitudinal link.
- Fit the body bracket back in place on the longitudinal link's bush.
- Clamp on 89 96 753 ASSEMBLY FIXTURE, A-BRACKET, REAR AXLE (KM-901) as illustrated.
- Tighten the nut and bolt retaining the body bracket.
Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°)
- Use a wire brush to clean the wheel hub's mating surface.
- Fit the wheel hub on the longitudinal link, using new nuts. Tighten the nuts alternately.
Tightening torque 50 Nm +30° (40 lbf ft +30°) .
- Lift up the longitudinal link to the body and insert the bolts.
Secure the mounting using 89 96 795 FIXING TOOL and tighten the bolts.
Tightening torque: 90 Nm +30° (66 lbf ft +30°)
- Tighten the bolt securing the upper transverse link to the longitudinal link.
Tightening torque 90 Nm +60° (70 lbf ft +60°)
- Tighten the bolt securing the anti-roll bar link to the longitudinal link.
Tightening torque 50 Nm (40 lbf ft) .
- Hook the handbrake cable on and refit the return spring.
- Tighten the bolt securing the lower transverse link to the longitudinal link.
Tightening torque: 90 Nm +60° (66 lbf ft +60°)
- Position the bottom damper mounting on the rear axle. Insert the bolt. Raise the steering swivel member with a column jack to about the same height as when the car is standing on its wheels. Tighten the bolt.
Tightening torque 190 Nm (140 lbf ft)
- Fit the brake caliper. Use 74 96 268 Thread locking adhesive on the bolts.
Tightening torque: 80 Nm (59 lbf ft)
- Fit the mounting for the wheel sensor and the brake pipe.
Tightening torque: 24 Nm (18 lbf ft)
- Fit the wheel sensor cable into the mounting.
- Plug in the wheel sensor connector.
- Fit the handbrake cable bracket.
Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 lbf ft)
- Fit the air deflector.
- Fit the wheel.
Tightening torque
aluminum rim 110 Nm (81 lbf ft) .
pressed steel rim 50 Nm +2x90°, max 110 Nm (37 lbf ft +2x90°, max 81 lbf ft)
Lower the car.
- Depress the brake pedal to press out the piston in the brake caliper.
- Adjust the toe angles.
