To remove

WARNING: The cooling system is under pressure. Hot coolant and steam can escape.
  • Open the cap slowly to release the pressure.
  • Carelessness can cause eye and burn injuries
  1. Undo the expansion tank cap and release the pressure.

  2. Remove the upper engine cover.
  3. Remove the battery cover and release the cables from the battery.

  4. Remove the battery cooling pipe and release it from its catch.
  5. Remove the washer fluid filler pipe.
  6. Remove the upper radiator member.
  7. Release the charge air hose from the throttle housing and the charge air pipe upper fixing from the fan cowling.

  8. Remove the console from the throttle body, release the fast couplings and connector from the purge valve and fold the console aside.
  9. Release the connector and hose from the pressure/temperature sensor on the charge air pipe.
  10. Raise the car.
  11. Remove the front spoiler shield.
  12. Place a receptacle under the car, connect a hose and drain the cooling system.

  13. Release the charge air hose from the charge air pipe

  14. Remove the lower charge air pipe bracket from the fan cowling.
  15. Remove the lower seal between the fan cowling and the radiator.
  16. Remove the charge air hose from the charge air cooler.
  17. Remove the dryer filter bolts from the radiator.
  18. Lower the car.
  19. Remove the charge air pipe with hose.
  20. Remove the battery.
  21. Remove the cover from the battery box.
  22. For cars with automatic transmission: 

    release the connector from the gearbox control module.

  23. Lift the cover and release the connector fixing.
  24. Press in the catch and remove the electrical unit from the battery box.
  25. Release the main unit connector and remove the battery box.
  26. Release the clip holding the cables from the battery cover.
  27. Release the connector and clip holding the cables from the fan cowling.
  28. Remove the upper radiator seal and remove the upper radiator brackets from the body.
  29. For cars with automatic transmission: 

    Remove the cover over the upper fast coupling.

  30. Release the oil pipe fast coupling using 87 92 806 REMOVAL TOOL  and release the upper and lower oil pipes from the radiator. Catch any oil spills. If necessary undo the plate clip holding the two oil pipes.
  31. Separate and remove the front connector from the structural member (left side). Move the connector aside so it is protected from any coolant spillage.
  32. Remove the vent hose from the radiator.
  33. Remove the fan cowling screws and remove the fan cowling.
  34. Fit 83 95 212 STRAP,  release screws holding the radiator, raise and disconnect charge air cooler with condenser and hold with the strap.

  35. Remove the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator and remove the radiator.
