WINTER shifting program
A WINTER shifting program is provided to facilitate starting on a slippery road surface. With the selector lever in position D and the WINTER shifting program activated, the car will start in 3rd gear and then normally shift up to 4th gear.
With the selector lever in position 3 only 3rd gear will be used.
WINTER and NORMAL shifting programs can be selected with a switch on the selector lever console.
The switch has two connections, one to control module pin 22 and the other to grounding point G41S. The control module supplies B+ to pin 22. When the button is pressed in, the circuit closes to ground and a change between the shifting programs WINTER and NORMAL is achieved.
The TCM sends information on the current mode as bus information WINTER, unit ON/OFF. In connection with bus information "WINTER ON", the main instrument unit turns on the WINTER indicator lamp.
Functions in different selector lever positions when the WINTER shifting program is selected:
| P | WINTER can be selected. |
| R | WINTER can be selected. |
| N | WINTER can be selected. |
| D | WINTER program in 3rd and 4th gear. SPORT cannot be selected and is disengaged when WINTER is selected. Normal shifting program is selected temporarily while Kickdown is active. |
| 3 | Same as in selector lever position D but 3rd gear is locked. |
| 2 | WINTER cannot be selected. |
| 1 | WINTER cannot be selected. |
WINTER will be disconnected if:
- the switch is pressed
- the ignition is turned to position ON
- the fluid temperature is 140°C
- when Limp-Home mode is activated
- lever position 1 or 2 is selected.
- kick-down is activated but returns to WINTER when kick-down is disengaged
