Control Module: Removal

  1. Before proceeding, see AIR BAG SAFETY PRECAUTIONS  . Disable system. See DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM  .
  2. Control module is located under center console. Remove rear console trash bin and cup holder. Remove 3 screws and bracket securing rear console and remove rear console.
  3. Remove 2 screws at rear of center console base. Remove gear selector panel. Remove switch panel and disconnect all harness connectors. Remove ashtray and lower center compartment (if equipped). Remove switches in front of gear selector and disconnect harness connectors.
  4. Remove center console mounting screws and apply handbrake. Remove center console. See Figure . Release control module connector lock lever and pull connector from control module. See Figure . Remove 3 bolts securing control module and remove module.
