DTC P1441: EVAP Purge Valve Circuit & Low Fuel Level Problems At Same Time (2000 Lev)

  1. Determine if fuel gauge problems have been noticed by customer. If no problems were noticed, replace EVAP canister purge valve and go to step  4. See Figure. If fuel gauge problems have been noticed, go to next step.
  2. Connect TECH 2 scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). Check for stored DTCs in MAIN INSTRUMENT UNIT (MIU). If DTC B1720 is present, see appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. After diagnosing and repairing DTC B1720, go to DTC P0441: EVAP PURGE VALVE MALFUNCTION  to finish trouble shooting. If DTC B1720 is not present, go to next step.
  3. Replace EVAP canister purge valve. Inspect fuel level sensor wiring harness for loose connections or faulty wiring. If no problems were found, replace fuel level sensor. See appropriate INSTRUMENT PANELS article in ACCESSORIES & EQUIPMENT. Go to next step.
  4. Use scan tool to select ACTIVATE: EVAP DIAGNOSTICS. Follow scan tool instructions. If scan tool displays OK, clear DTCs from all systems. If NOT READY is displayed, go back to INITIATING DIAGNOSTICS and retest. If DTC P0441 or P1441 is present, substitute known good ECM and retest system. See ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) under COMPUTERIZED ENGINE CONTROLS in REMOVAL, OVERHAUL & INSTALLATION article.
