First Bow Lock Adjustment

  1. Measure gap between front edge of first bow and front edge of seal. If gap is greater than .078" (2 mm), locks in first bow must be checked and adjusted. See Fig 1 . Operate convertible top to half open position. Place Soft Top Support (82 93 144) so convertible top does not fall when hydraulic pressure is released.
  2. Remove front seals and retainers. Remove retainer strip in first bow front edge. Using a small screwdriver, remove upholstery by handle. Remove handle by pulling pins out of groove. Unclip 2 clips and remove front rail cover. Hold convertible top support so it does not release when covers are folded out.
  3. Check left and right locks, ensuring front edge of lock is in line with lug and lock is centered on lug. Measure distance between outer edges of lock hooks. Distance should be 32.3" (822 mm). See Figure . If adjustment is necessary, adjust right lock. Install pins for handle. Fit plastic cover on first bow. Install handle and remaining upholstery. Reinstall retainer strip on first bow.
NOTE: Use care so magnets for lock are not damaged.
  4. Install front seal retainers. Lubricate seals with soapy water. Install outer edges in groove and press in seal, starting from front and working back. Install front screw.
