Clutch Assembly: Installation

  1. Before installing clutch, check input shaft seal condition. If necessary, replace seal. Assemble clutch components. Install clutch as an assembly. Loosely install pressure plate mounting bolts. Center clutch disc using clutch alignment tool.
  2. Lightly coat input shaft splines with molybdenum grease. Tap shaft into position. Ensure splined shaft engages with splines of both disc and pilot bearing.
  3. Apply Loctite to release cylinder bolts. Install release cylinder. Tighten pressure plate bolts evenly to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS  . Ensure hardened side of throw-out bearing faces clutch assembly. Ensure plastic sleeve with circlip is installed with release cylinder. See Figure . To complete installation, reverse removal procedure. Fill transmission with 10W/30 or 15W/40 engine oil.
