Removal & Installation

  1. Raise and support vehicle. Drain coolant. Remove air intake pipe and hose between turbocharger and charge air cooler. Disconnect front exhaust pipe and intermediate pipe connection. Loosen exhaust pipe support. Remove front exhaust pipe from turbocharger and support pipe to prevent damage to oxygen sensor wiring.
  2. Break seal on wastegate locking ring and remove lock ring. Remove turbocharger support. Disconnect and plug turbocharger oil return pipe. Disconnect oil pipe from oil filter. Lower vehicle. Mark and disconnect boost pressure control valve hoses.
  3. Remove intake hose with by-pass hose attached. Remove wastegate diaphragm retaining nuts. Remove intake pipe with crankcase vent pipe attached. Remove oil pipe and lower coolant pipe from turbocharger. Remove upper coolant pipe screw and remove turbocharger.
  4. To install, reverse removal procedure. Make sure turbocharger mating surfaces are clean. Tighten turbocharger mounting bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m). Check and top off engine oil and coolant.
