A/C System Performance

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Saab 900 and 1995 Saab 900. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Park vehicle out of direct sunlight. Install A/C manifold gauge set. Start engine and allow it to idle at 1500-2000 RPM. Set A/C controls to recirculate air, panel (vent) mode, full cold, and A/C button on.
  2. Set blower fan on fourth speed, and close doors and windows. Insert thermometer in side vent. See Figure. Operate system for 5 minutes to allow system to stabilize.
  3. Measure temperature. Temperature must be approximately 43-54°F (6-12°C) at center vent, with high side and low side pressures within specification. Difference between turn-on and turn-off should be 37-43°F (3-6°C). See SPECIFICATIONS .
