Control Module
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1996 Saab 9000. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Faults detected by the SRS control module are coded according to type. An "I" or "P" will be assigned to a DTC to identify whether it is intermittent or permanent. When a fault is registered, a fault counter and time counter start running. The fault counter can register up to 255 occurrences of the same fault. The time counter will show how much time has elapsed since the first registration of an intermittent fault. For a permanent fault, the counter will show elapsed time, up to 40 hours, since the fault registered. The fault time counter increments in steps of 5 minutes, however the first increment is 2.5 minutes so failures occurring just after start up can be included.
