Fuel Pump Relay (Except 9000 Series Turbo)

  1. Turn ignition off. Unplug fuel injection ECM connector. Ground ECM harness connector harness terminals No. 21 (Yellow/White wire) and No. 20 (Violet wire). If fuel pump runs, fuel pump relay is okay.
  2. If fuel pump does not run, remove jumper wires. Remove fuel pump relay. Relay is located behind right kick panel on 900 Series, and behind glove box on 9000 Series. Check for battery voltage at relay socket terminal No. 86. See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist on 900 Series, repair Brown/White wire to main relay. If battery voltage does not exist on 9000 Series, inspect Green/White wire to main relay. On all models, if wire to main relay is okay, go to MAIN RELAY (EXCEPT 9000 SERIES TURBO)  .
  3. Check for battery voltage at relay socket terminal No. 30 (Red wire). See Fig 1 . If battery voltage does not exist, repair Red wire to main battery junction on battery bracket.
  4. Reinstall relay. Connect DVOM to relay terminal No. 87B and ground. Using a jumper wire, ground terminal No. 85 (Violet wire). Replace relay if DVOM does not indicate battery voltage.
