Ground Circuit

  1. Locate ignition ECM on upper left firewall. Turn ignition off. Check for continuity between ECM terminal No. 13 (Black wire) and ground. Resistance should be zero ohms. If resistance is not zero ohms, repair open to ground. Harness grounding point is located at rear of engine on a sheet metal bracket or on thermostat housing.
  2. Connect negative lead of DVOM to a good ground. Backprobe ECM terminal No. 13 (Black wire). With vehicle running, DVOM should indicate less than one volt. If voltage is more than one volt, check for open, corrosion, or loose connection on ground lead.
