Quick Check Of Fuel Pump Relay & System Relay
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect ECU and air mass meter connectors. Using a jumper wire, connect terminals No. 17 and No. 21 of ECU connector to ground. Using a voltmeter, check for voltage at test connector terminal No. 1, terminal No. 9 of ECU connector, terminal No. 2 of air mass meter connector and fuse No. 14. See Fig 1 .
- If voltage is present at these terminals, system relay, fuel pump relay and associated wiring are okay. If no voltage was measured, go to FUEL PUMP RELAY or SYSTEM RELAY checks.NOTE: If proceeding to a relay test, leave ECU and air mass meter connectors unplugged.
- To gain access to relays on 900 models, remove attaching screws for air ducting in engine compartment Fold down ducting. Fold back sound insulation felt. Pull relays out of their holders. To have easier access to relay wiring, detach relay from holder.
- To gain access to relays on 9000 models, remove glove box. Remove fuse panel. Relays are located behind fuse panel.
