Axle Assembly
Removal
1) Raise vehicle and support with safety stands under vehicle body. Remove wheel assemblies. Detach handbrake cables from brackets on spring links.
2) Remove bolts for brake calipers and hang out of way. Remove brake disc. Position a floor jack under rear axle. Lift rear axle just enough to partially relieve tension on panhard rod. Remove panhard rod from axle.
3) Remove bottom bolts for shock absorbers and anti-roll bar. Carefully lower rear axle and remove springs. Unbolt front mounting for torque arm. Remove trailing-end mounting bolts for spring link.
Installation
To install, reverse removal procedure. Position all components and leave bolts loose. Using a floor jack, lift rear axle enough to seat suspension components. Tighten bolts. DO NOT lift car with a floor jack under rear axle.
