Axle Assembly
Removal
1) Raise vehicle and support with safety stands under vehicle body. Remove wheel assemblies. Disconnect rear brake hoses and plug. Lower shock absorber attachments and panhard rod.
2) Position a floor jack under rear axle. Lower axle and remove rear springs. Remove bolts from spring link rear bushings and remove axle assembly from vehicle.
Installation
1) To install, reverse removal procedure. When repositioning axle tube, do not place floor jack in center of axle tube. Either use 2 floor jacks (one at each end) or one floor jack and one safety stand.
2) Do not tighten bushings until vehicle weight is on suspension to ensure bushings are aligned correctly. Panhard rod-to-body retaining bolt must be installed with nut facing forward. Bleed brake system.
