Automatic Idling Control Sensor Operation

The automatic idle control (AIC) system is comprised of a valve, solenoid and an electric motor. See Figure . The AIC system is used to provide a more regular idle speed.

This system determines the volume of air that will enter engine intake system. Airflow volume is determined by size of opening in valve. When airflow drops below a specified volume, the ECU signals the AIC system to modify size of valve opening.
