Replacing Transfer Gear Control Unit

NOTIFICATION 

Voltage drop 

• Irreparable damage to control unit 
• Damage to control unit 
• Fault entries in the control unit 
• Control unit programming/coding is aborted 
• Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming 
  1. → Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
  2. → Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
  3. → Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A  to the vehicle battery.

Information 

The > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

The procedure described here has been structured in general terms; different text or additions may appear in > 9900 -PIWIS Tester 3  .

1. Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
2. Select the vehicle type if required.
3. Select the All-wheel  control unit in the overview  . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
4. Maintenance/repairs  must now be selected.
5. Select Replacement work on the transfer gear  . Press F12 to continue.
6. Control unit replacement  must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
7. Read and follow the instructions and information on the Tester. Press F12 to continue.
8. Read out the fault memory, correct faults that are stored if necessary and clear the fault memory.
9. Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
