Functional Assessment

Information

The functional assessment using VAS 6910 - Module balancer must only be performed if there are critical faults for the classifying module stored in the fault memory of the high-voltage battery control unit. If it was not possible to assess the fault memory of the high-voltage battery control unit beforehand, the functional test on the module must be performed using VAS 6910 - Module balancer.

The functional assessment is performed using > 9900 - PIWIS Tester 3  , > VAS 6558A - High-voltage testing module  and > VAS 6910 - Module balancer  .

No. Criterion
12 High-voltage battery control unit - critical fault Yes □ No □
13 Cell voltage ≥ 4.2 V Yes □ No □
14 Cell temperature > 80 °C/(176 °F) Yes □ No □
15 No module communication Yes □ No □
16 Cell voltage ≤ 2.8 V Yes □ No □
17 Cell temperature > 60 °C/(140 °F) and < 80 °C/(176 °F) Yes □ No □

If you answered "Yes" to one of the points 12 to 14:

Module status: "Danger"

Alert the fire brigade and take steps to deal with the danger from fire/gas leaks.

If you answered "Yes" to one of the points 15 to 17:

Module status: "Warning"

Store the lithium-ion module in the quarantine location and attach warning signs in accordance with requirements (see "Handling lithium-ion batteries"). Contact Technical Support.

Check the module at regular intervals at least once a day.
