Installing Sensor Module
Information
- Install sensor module -1-
and oil collection pan -2-
.
Sensor module
- 1.1 Position sensor module -1- .
- 1.2
Fit and tighten screw -3-
.
- Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- 1.3 Position oil collection pan -2- and engage it on the sensor module -1- .
Information
- Prepare cable plug for sensor module -1-
.
Cable plug for sensor module
- 2.1 Lock cable plug for sensor module -1- on the sensor module holder -2- .
- 2.2 Push connector housing -3- onto cable plug for sensor module -1- and engage it.
- Position transmission housing on > VAS 6095A - engine and gearbox bracket vertically so that the clutch side is facing downwards.
- Shift selector lever -1-
as far as it will go in direction of travel -Arrow-

- Check that transmission housing magnet -1-
is seated correctly.

- Check that oil guide for front-wheel drive -1-
is fitted correctly in the transmission housing.

Information
- Sealing faces must be free of oil and grease.
- Apply sealant -1-
on transmission housing flange and check that dowel sleeves -2-
are seated correctly.

- > T10273 - Guide pins, M8-1-
must be screwed into position of the dowel sleeves.

- Position double clutch transmission on >
VAS 6095A - engine and gearbox bracket
vertically so that the clutch side is facing downwards.
Information
- The hooks and staking pins of the lifting tackle must be secured with cotter pins.
- The centre transmission housing must be lifted off carefully and in a vertical position in order to prevent the centre transmission housing from tilting.
- Suspend centre transmission housing -1-
on >
VAS 6100 - workshop crane-2-
.
Transmission housing, centre
- 10.1 > T10014 - Retainer-3- must be secured to the centre transmission housing
- 10.2 Secure VW771/40 -4- from tool set > VW771 - Multi-purpose tool on the centre transmission housing -1- .
- 10.3 > 3368 - Eye-head bolt-5- must be secured to VW771/40 -4- .
- 10.4 > T10014 - Retainer-3- and > 3368 - eye-head bolt-5- must now be engaged in the > 2024A - lifting tackle-6- .
- 10.5 > 2024A - Lifting tackle-6- must be attached to the > VAS 6100 - workshop crane-2- .
Information
The cable plug for the sensor module must not be tilted when inserting it into the bore on the transmission housing.
- Install centre transmission housing -1-

Screws on centre transmission housing
- 11.1 Position centre transmission housing -1- with > VAS 6100 - workshop crane over the > T10273 - guide pins, M8 and lower it onto the transmission housing.
- 11.2 > T10273 - Guide pins, M8 must now be unscrewed.
- 11.3 Fit new screws -2 to 18- and tighten crosswise.
- Initial tightening 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- Final tightening + 120°
- > 2024A - Lifting tackle and add-on parts must be removed from the centre transmission housing.
- Secure connector housing for sensor module -1-
.
Connector housing
- 13.1 Turn the connector housing for sensor module -1- as far as it will go to the right using > T40228 - bit (-Arrow-) so it engages.
- Install new sealing ring for front output shaft.
- Fit spur gear -1-
and needle-roller bearing -2-
on the output shaft -3-
.

- Install side shaft -1-
.
Screw for side shaft
- 16.1 Insert side shaft -1- as far as it will go onto the pinion and into the transmission cover.
- 16.2 Fit new
screw for side shaft -2-
.
- 16.2.1 Push on bi-hexagonal socket insert (a/f 21) -3- with extension -4- and screw in side shaft screw -2- .
- 16.2.2 Insert ring gear of > T40217 - counterhold tool-6- into ring gear of side shaft -7- .
- 16.2.3 > T40217 - Counterhold tool-5- must be secured to the centre transmission housing.

Tighten screw for side shaft -2-
.
- Initial tightening 100 Nm (74 ftlb.)
- Final tightening + 120°
- 16.3 > T40217 - Counterhold tool-5- must now be removed.
- Install oil guide for drive shaft -1-

Information
- Sealing faces must be free of oil and grease.
- Apply sealant to the transmission housing cover.
- 18.1 Apply a 5-mm thick bead of sealant -1- evenly.

- Sealing faces must be free of oil and grease.
Information
The output shaft and side shaft must not be damaged when removing or fitting the transmission housing cover.
- Install transmission housing cover -3-
.

- 19.1 > T10273 - Guide pins, M8-1- must be screwed into the threaded bores.
- 19.2 > 9884 - Sleeve-2- must be fitted over the transmission shaft.
- 19.3 Push transmission housing cover -3- straight on.
- 19.4 > T10273 - Guide pins, M8-1- must now be unscrewed.
- Secure transmission housing cover -1-
.

- 20.1
Screw in and tighten new
screws -2-
.
- Initial tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
- Final tightening + 90°

Screw in and tighten new
screws -3-
.
- Initial tightening torque 15 Nm (11 ftlb.)
- Final tightening + 90°

screws -2-
.
- Fit new
sealing ring on transmission housing cover.
- 21.1 Push on sealing ring on > 9884 - sleeve .
- 21.2 > 9884/1 - Pressure piece-1- must be pushed onto the > 9884 - sleeve and output shaft.
- 21.3 Using > 9884/1 - pressure piece-1- , press sealing ring fully onto the transmission housing cover -2- .
- 21.4 > 9884 - Sleeve must now be removed.
