Programming (Calibrating) Control Unit For Lane Change Assist
NOTE:
Voltage drop
- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding is aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming
→ Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
→ Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
→ Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.
Information
The PIWIS Tester instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester .
Setup overview
| MP 1 to 4 | Measuring points |
| X1 | Distance from calibration board to right reflector |
| X2 | Distance from calibration board to left reflector |
| Z | Height of camera from floor |
| K | Calibration board height |
- The following tools are required:
- 1.1 > VAS 6350A - Calibration unit
- 1.2 > VAS 6350/2A - Spacing laser
- 1.3 > VAS 6350/4 - Calibration Unit for Lane Change Assist
Information
The surface of the calibration board must be clean and free of objects.
- Align the linear laser.
- 2.1 Position the distance measuring unit at the right stop bracket of the calibration board and measure the distance -X1- to the right reflector. The distance must be approx. 1, 700 mm.
- 2.2 Position the distance measuring unit at the left stop bracket of the calibration board and measure the distance -X2- to the left reflector. The distance must be approx. 1, 700 mm.
- 2.3 The difference between distance -X1- and distance -X2- can be max. 1 mm.
Setup overview with Doppler generator (shown on a Cayenne)
Check the values for the Y and Z-axes on the Tester.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if required.
- Select the Lane Change Assist control unit in the overview . Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Maintenance/repairs must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- Calibrate Lane Change Assist must now be selected.
- Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- Calibration of the master and slave control unit for Lane Change Assist is menu-driven.
- Read the information displayed on the Tester and proceed according to instructions.
- Read out the fault memory and delete any fault entries.
- Exit the diagnostic application. Switch off ignition. Disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
- Once you have calibrated Lane Change Assist, carry out a test drive and check the Lane Change Assist function.
- Read out the fault memory again after the test drive.
