Replacing Central Control Unit For Assistance Systems
NOTIFICATION
Voltage drop
- Irreparable damage to control unit
- Damage to control unit
- Fault entries in the control unit
- Control unit programming/coding is aborted
- Malfunctions in the control unit, even during programming
- Switch off ignition before disconnecting the control unit.
- Make sure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming/coding.
- Connect the battery charger with at least > current 90 A to the vehicle battery.
Information
The PIWIS Tester instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear on the PIWIS Tester.
- Connect the Tester to the vehicle and start it. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type if required.
- Select the Assistance systems control unit in the overview. Press F12 to continue. The message "Create Vehicle Analysis Log (VAL)?" appears. Press F11 to continue.
- Coding/programming must be selected.
- Automatic coding must now be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- The Tester displays the message: Coding completed successfully.
- Go back to the overview.
- In the overview, press F7 to switch to the Additional menu.
- Component protection start-up must now be selected. Follow instructions and procedure.
- Enter the PPN user name and password. Press F12 to continue.
- Allow the Tester to run the procedure. Read and follow information and instructions.
- Select Gateway (master) component protection. Press F12 to continue.
- Allow the Tester to run the procedure.
- The Tester displays the message: Component protection taught. Press F12 to continue.
- Press F11 to return to the overview.
- Teach combination sensor.
- 16.1 Select Airbag control unit in the overview.
- 16.2 Maintenance/repairs must now be selected.
- 16.3 Teach combination sensor must be selected. Press F12 to continue.
- 16.4 Read the warnings and instructions displayed on the Tester. Press F8 to start.
- If fitted: Calibrate rear spoiler.
- If fitted: Calibrate panoramic roof.

- Read out the fault memory and delete any fault entries.
- Exit the diagnostic application, switch off ignition and disconnect the Tester from the vehicle.
