Removing Front Three-Point Belt

Information 

• Replace deployed seat-belt pretensioner. Read out faults using > 9818 - PIWIS Tester II  .
• If the seat-belt pretensioner was deployed, cut through the belt strap before removing the seat-belt pretensioner. This ensures that the faulty automatic belt device is not installed again. 
• Make sure that the negative terminal of the battery is disconnected. 

1. Detach belt fitting -3-  at door sill.
   1. 1.1 Unclip cap on screw head -1-  .
   2. 1.2 Unscrew screw -2-  and remove belt fitting -3-  and spacer sleeve -4-  .

2. Remove cover on belt strap guide -1-  .

3. Fold rear wall trim panel out of the way.¹⁾ 

   ¹⁾ For better access.

4. Feed belt strap -1-  out of the guide rail -2-  (-arrows-  ).

5. On USA vehicles: 

   Release locks -1-  on the seat-belt pretensioner and disconnect electric plug connections -2-  (-arrows-  ).

6. For non-USA vehicles: 

   Release lock -1-  on the seat-belt pretensioner and disconnect electric plug connection -2-  (-arrow-  ).

7. Unscrew and remove screw -1-  and lift up seat-belt pretensioner -arrow-  .
