Preliminary Work For ELV Control Unit

  1. If the ELV (electronic steering column lock) control unit has to be replaced, the values must be read out using PIWIS Tester II 9818  before removing the control unit. See section entitled Programming ELV control unit.
  2. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock. The electronic steering column lock (ELV) must unlock.
  3. Disconnect the battery.
  4. Remove the steering column. → Removing Steering Column Centre
