Installing Triggering Unit

Information 

If a new component (e.g. sensor, airbag control unit, airbag unit) of the airbag system has to be installed, the new component will be supplied with a barcode sticker (tear-off label).

• Tear off the tear-off label -2- on the new component -1- and stick it in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet under the heading Proof of airbag system check/component replacement  .

• The replacement date and current mileage must be documented and the booklet must be stamped with the Centre's stamp. 

1. Position the triggering unit, slide the three ground straps -2-  onto the left fastening bolts and secure them with the three fastening nuts -1-  . → Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

2. Connect electric plug and lock it until the lock engages.

3. If the triggering unit is new, lock the airbag triggering unit using PIWIS Tester II 9818  . → Coding Triggering Unit
